Through animation and a wide variety of music, the two "Sweet Blackberry Presents" specials tell lesser-known stories about historical African-Americans in order to promote the culture and give children new heroes to identify with. A group of children listen to the stories as told by Alfre Woodard and Queen Latifah.

Narrated by four time Emmy Award®-winning actress, Alfre Woodard, "Sweet Blackberry Presents: The Journey of Henry Box Brown" tells the true story of a slave's brave and dangerous quest for freedom. After losing his family and suffering countless other hardships at the hands of his master, Henry determines to escape and learn the meaning of freedom. With the help of many friends along the way, Henry ships himself to Philadelphia, where he continued to spread his message that everyone should be free. "The Journey of Henry Box Brown" is a story of determination and courage.
