From the producers of the Peabody Award-winning "The Music in Me: Children's Recitals from Classical to Latin, Jazz to Zydeco," the all-new HBO Family presentation "The Music in Me: A Family Special" profiles young musicians around the country from different musical and cultural traditions. The second of three specials showcases children's diverse love of music.

"The Music in Me: A Family Special" combines performance footage and home-video clips to capture the stirring and surprising range of musical styles displayed by children across America. Celebrating the heart and soul of dedicated young musicians everywhere, the special demonstrates the many ways music can have a vital, profound impact on their lives.

The six children featured in "The Music in Me: A Family Special" are: 11-year-old tin whistle player Neidin, from Pearl River, NY; ten-year-old jazz pianist Tony, from Penbroke Pines, Fla.; 11-year-old fiddle player Maddie, from Murfreesboro, Tenn.; ten-year-old mariachi singer and guitarist Eduardo, from Marietta, Ga.; 11-year-old classical composer Roy, from Brooklyn, NY; and 12-year-old Ashley and nine-year-old Julia, both piano players living at Target House in Memphis, Tenn.

The kids share a love of music and possess undeniable skill on their instruments, often enjoying a special connection to their heritage through playing. Neidin, who learned to play tin whistle from her mother and sisters, says, "When I'm playing Irish music it makes me think of my cousins, my aunts, my uncles, my grandfather. And I'm like, God, I wish I was in Ireland." Likewise, Eduardo ("the littlest mariachi"), who learns songs from his godmother, says, "I want to keep Mexican music in my heart and in my singing."

The special also demonstrates the ability of music to help young children cope with difficult circumstances. Ashley and Julia are both cancer survivors who play the piano at Target House, a long-term family residence at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Julia finds therapy in music, explaining, "Playing the piano, with my sister, it makes me forget the pain and feeling sick." Ashley, who had cancer at ages two and ten, says, "It's nice if you can find something good like playing the piano. Because then you can feel like you can be strong enough to deal with cancer."

Individual segments of "The Music in Me: A Family Special" include: "Neidin," directed by Mark Benjamin; "Tony," directed by Mark Benjamin; "Maddie," directed by Mark Mannucci; "Eduardo," directed by Mark Benjamin; "Roy," directed by Amy Schatz; and "Target House," directed by Mark Mannucci.
